A SECRUI doorbell for a large house
One chime in the hall will not reach a basement workshop or a bedroom with the door shut. The answer is not a louder chime. It is a second one.
How many doorbell receivers does a two-storey house need?
Two: one on each floor. The M520 Doorbell Kit with 2 or 3 Receivers rings them all from a single press, and a third covers a garage or a basement.

Sound drops fast through a closed door and a floor. A chime that is loud in the hallway is a murmur two rooms away, and turning it up only makes the hallway unpleasant. Receivers are cheap and outlets are everywhere, so put the sound where you are.
Radio is the other half. The button reaches 1,000 feet in open air, and an ordinary wood-framed house is well inside that. Brick, stone and steel doors take more of the signal. If the far receiver misses presses, move it one room closer to the door before you blame the kit.
In three steps
How to plan it
1. Count the floors and outbuildings
Each one where you spend an hour at a time gets a receiver.
2. Count the doors with visitors
Front only is one button. Front and back is two.
3. Add later if you guessed low
A spare M520 receiver pairs with the button you already own.
