About the brand

Why SECRUI makes doorbells without wires

A doorbell should take a minute

SECRUI began with a plain complaint. A house had a front door, a back door and no working doorbell, and fixing it meant an electrician, a transformer in the basement and a morning with the power off. We thought a doorbell should take a minute. So our first chime plugged into a wall outlet, and its button ran on a coin cell and stuck beside the door with a pad.

Nothing was wired. Nothing asked for an app, an account or a Wi-Fi password. Press the button and the chime rings. That was the whole product, and it still is. The SECRUI family has been on door alerts since 2016, and the M520 is the kit most people know us by.

From the button to the door itself

Then shop owners wrote to us. They did not need a button, because customers do not ring. They needed to hear the door itself from the stock room.

Parents asked for the same thing for a different reason: a toddler who had learned the handle. So we put a magnet on the door, a sensor on the frame and the chime we already had in the outlet. Later came a sensor that watches a doorway with no door to close. All three talk to the same receivers. That is how one chime from the SECRUI range can ring for a button, a door and a hallway.

Range, said plainly

A SECRUI doorbell button reaches 1,000 feet in open air, and a door sensor reaches 500. Open air means a field with nothing in the way. A brick wall, a steel door or foil-backed insulation takes a share of it. In an ordinary wood-framed house the button reaches every room. In a long masonry building, plan on a second receiver near the door. We would rather sell you the right kit once than the wrong one twice.

Kits by the count, not by the guess

Most doorbells are sold as one button and one chime, and the buyer finds out later that the bedroom cannot hear it. The SECRUI lineup is counted instead. One button or two, for the front door and the back. One receiver, two or three, for each floor and the workshop.

Door chimes come with one, two or three sensors. Every part in a box is paired before it ships, so a three-receiver kit rings in three rooms on the first press. If the count changes later, a spare receiver or a spare D017 sensor joins the kit you already own.

What SECRUI does not make

We do not make video doorbells. If you want to see a visitor on your phone, or answer the door from work, you need a camera and a subscription, and that is a different product from a different company.

Ours ring in the house, for the people in the house. The same idea carries over to the two small lines beside the chimes: a room thermometer that shows temperature and humidity at a glance, and a cabinet light that comes on when you open the door. Batteries in, and it works.
