Who the Capsule door chime suits
A good fit when
Shop owners want to hear the door from the back room. Parents want to hear it when a toddler finds the handle. The sensor has two halves, one on the door and one on the frame. When they part, the chime rings.
The capsule chime has 58 melodies and five volume levels up to 110 dB. At the mute step the light still flashes. Sensor and chime are paired before shipping and reach 500 feet in open air. Kits go from one sensor to three sensors and two receivers.
Know before you buy
- The two sensor halves must sit within 0.6 inch of each other when the door is shut.
- It will not work on doors or windows with a wide gap between leaf and frame.
- It rings on opening only. It does not warn that a door was left open.

It works well, but changing the battery in the little door unit is very counterintuitive. Instead of having a slide to lock in place mechanism. This one you have to kinda pry it from the side with an opening to get it off. Making changing the battery a bit of a scare, cuz you always run the risk of damaging the little unit cover trying to change the battery

There's zero way that this thing stops an intruder, but for letting us know when our kids are opening their bedroom door or the front door, it's perfect. It's not particularly loud, but the volume controls are easy to navigate and it was VERY easy to set up. Super slim design. I think it is a good value for the price because we can have a receiver both upstairs and downstairs, but I took off a star because I really wish this bad boy was louder.

This is my second time buying this little door chime, and honestly? No regrets. I have it on the front door of my shop and the first one lasted almost two years betore it randomly stopped working. I even swapped out the battery, thinking maybe that was it. Never figured out why. But for what I paid. Whatever. Installation took me literally 90 seconds peeled the tape, stuck the sensor on the door frame, plugged the receiver into an outlet near the register. That's it. No screws, no pairing dance.

How close must the door sensor halves be?
Within 0.6 inch when the door is closed. A wider gap keeps the D017 sensor from sensing the magnet.
Can the Capsule door chime cover three doors?
